Going to go against one of my normal rules

I normally try to not down any high school kid, and I realize that there may be issues that I don't know of, but geeesh almighty if Norton didn't deserve to lose for allowing Goins back on the team. I don't know the details of what went down, have heard multiple stories, multiple tales but the majority from people I tend to believe sound pretty close to the same. All that being said, and I'm all for giving kids another chance, he doesn't seem like he has a lick of common sense or sense in general. I realize he is a heck of an athlete and I really understand Norton wanting to give him another chance, but man, I don't know if I ever seen a kid who was more 'idiotic' in a game. Maybe he uses stuff as motivational, but if he's got that nature, he will be lucky to either not be in jail or killed by someone in the not-so-distant future. It really stinks to see a kid who has talent but apparently absolutely no direction/guidance. I was fully expecting someone from Clintwood to get tired of his mouth and lay him out and probably get thrown out. All this being said, I don't have a problem with someone trying to get in the head of the opponent, but we've all seen ones where that wasn't the case, they just didn't seem like they had the sense to know better. I hope for a miracle and something happens good for him, the light bulb comes on or something. Just over the entire time his drama had unfolded, didn't really wanna say something, didn't want it to seem like sour grapes that he was back or anything. I figured he would help them, not just from making plays but a confidence factor. He definitely did that and has a ton of ability, just have the vision of one of them that people end up talking about later in life for what they could have been instead of what they ended up being.

Although I've hinted at it a few times in the past, I've remained mostly silent on this issue until now. I'll go ahead and let you know what I saw and experienced this year, too. He ran his mouth the entire time at the Appalachia and Abingdon games I attended. The Abingdon game was by far the worst display I'd seen. He was practically taunting the Abingdon players on the sideline when he was over on that side, and eventually near the game's end the entire crowd was catching on to his antics and shouting over at him. Of course he noticed this, and then started taunting not only the players on the sideline but those in the crowd, too. The kid has plenty talent, but an incredibly bad attitude. I was secretly hoping Clintwood would smash him in the mouth today, and from what you seem to be implying R0ck, that never happened. But that's OK. On the bright side, this is his senior year and I and other high school football fans won't have to put up with his nonsense any longer.

I sent UTVols a message last night telling him what I thought of the kid. I'll leave that, at that. There were at least half a dozen times last night that the kid should have been flagged for a dead ball personal foul. Late in the game he makes a good catch for a first down. He's tackled by Torres. He gets up, walks 3-4 yards to find Torres, and pushes/throws the ball into his facemask. This is while an official is standing beside him watching. The whole first half of him running his mouth and taunting the sideline was enough, but I was about to climb the fence and straighten his teeth by the time the game was over. His future home = Red Onion.

Being the extreme optimist that I am, I was hoping for a turnaround of some sort but it looks as if that didn't work.

I had a huge response typed out but decided not to submit for my own reasons but I can tell you 90% of the things being said are "rumors" and not what really went down. What really went down is tame compared to most of the things I have heard.

I just about lost it on the board last week and for some reason this year has been worst than most. I may need to take a little break from the board during football season because my patience level hasn't been as tolerable as normal. Must be me getting up in age, lol.

Congrats to all the Cwood fans, you all deserve it and were the better team. Best of luck the rest of the way.

Understand...and knowing how rumors are, very possible that even reliable Norton folks were exaggerating or being that the kid has a bit of questionable history, were looking to throw him under the bus.

I also understand, when you are watching someone due to their history or such, you watch closer and see more. I also know that when you have a kid who has had issues, who gets basically extra chances again and again, you hope to see a change in them, like maybe they did learn something. Just not sure that's the case here. Hope so, maybe a miracle will happen.

As for losing it on the board, I think you're just like the rest of us, we've gotten old *lol* Our tolerance for stupidity is less than it used to be

I don't care about all that rumor horseshit. I didn't blame you for responding to that dolt the other night for telling all of the stuff that he "heard" either. You shouldn't have deleted your post either. If Jimbo feels a need to give the kid a chance and put him on the team, that's up to him. Doesn't matter to me. Maybe he see's something in the kid and feels for him or something. As many chances as the kid got and for him to act the way he did last night from basically the 2nd quarter on is nothing but a slap in Jimbo and the coaching staffs face. When they watch the film, I'm sure they may see it that way too.

I agree, I'm sure they didn't see much of it as it was on the Cwood sidelines as you said. But there is no call for him to act that way after getting numerous chances.

I know I didn't need to delete my post but sometimes I let it get to me and I did last week. Should have just bit my tounge and moved on. I'm not much of a confrontational person. I am one of those who takes it, takes it, takes it, and then explodes.

I saw it during basketball season last year, but honestly I dont pay much attention to that stuff unless they act like assholes and suck, then its just funny.

Ill admit that im a fan of the psychological warfare during a game; if you can get a team off their game it pays dividends, but theres a difference between being an asshole and getting in the other teams' heads.
